Bullying & Suicidal
Bullying is a type of behavior that is used by a person or group of people to intimidate others. It appears that there is an imbalance in power between the two parties.
Bullying is persistent and has the potential to cause serious psychological damage to the afflicted person or group of people. Bullying can occur among school-aged children or among adults.
The long-term effects are the same: low self-esteem, depression and even the potential for death by suicide.
Grief & Loss
Grief is widely known as a normal response to the loss of something or someone you deeply loved and/or care about.
Although many people associate grief with being just an emotional reaction to loss, grief can also impact an individual socially, physically, culturally, as well as the way they behave.
Stress & Anxiety
Stress is one of the common reasons that people these days feel pressure in day to day activities. In some instances, a small amount of stress may be normal, healthy, and even useful.
On the other hand, excessive amounts can lead to both physical and mental disorders that can cause things like depression, anxiety, and other issues.
The different anxiety disorders that are most common today can leave an individual constantly overwhelmed, uneasy, and nervous.
Although some temporary anxiousness can be considered "normal," understanding whether or not a person has an anxiety disorder can make the difference in getting the needed treatment or not.
Self-Esteem & Confidence
While trying to see yourself as more important than other people is generally unhealthy, everyone deserves to recognize their full worth as a person.
Unfortunately, many people tend to dwell excessively on their flaws and failures while de-emphasising their good points, which can easily lead to low self esteem.
Abuse & Addicitions
The effects of abuse, whether this takes the form of emotional, physical or sexual abuse, can be both severe and long-lasting. It's not just a question of the direct trauma inflicted, but of trust betrayed.
Treating the effects of abuse often requires a multifaceted approach, while every case requires individual consideration. However, learning more about the matter, including the experience others have had in achieving a better state of being, is often helpful.
Typically, when counsellers talk about substance abuse, they're talking about drug and/or alcohol abuse. However, sometimes other substances such as tobacco are included if they are causing physical, mental, and/or social problems.
